Jakarta, Behavioral assess monogamous sexual relationship is exclusive because it is only done with regular partners, so avoid the risk of sexually transmitted diseases. Compared to polygamy, monogamy is more secure behavior of sexually transmitted diseases, though not able to guarantee 100 percent.

"Monogamy is usually used as one way to protect a person from sexually transmitted diseases, but this issue is still a difficult thing for young couples," said Jocelyn Warren from Oregon State University, as quoted by Medindia on Sunday (26/06/2011) .

Research carried out shows despite monogamous, sexual history before it is committed can be a factor of disease transmission. That is, if the couple had always bergonta before committing to monogamy.

That study of 434 married couples with an age range of about 18-25 years indicates, before committing to monogamy, on average, before they had sexual intercourse or couples who are committed monogamous one of them having an affair. The results obtained about 30 percent reported being cheated by their partners when it is committed to monogamy.

That which causes about 40 percent of young couples sanctions if they are clean of sexually transmitted diseases because before they commit to monogamy is also an active sex offender.
Conditions like these that led to the conclusion, the behavior of monogamy is not necessarily 100 percent safe from sexually transmitted diseases. Then it's actors remain monogamous sex need to use protective equipment.

Researcher Marie Harvey reveals that young couples who do a monogamous relationship, either in marriage or not remains to be encouraged to engage in protected sex.

"Even if your partner says to himself as a monogamous, clinicians still need to advise young people to always think of using the patron," said Harvey.

The results of this study will be published in the Journal of Sex Research.

Perpetrators monogamy should still be alert to the possibility of sexually transmitted diseases like genital herpes (genital). Transmission of the disease through direct skin contact, from infected areas into infected areas.

For example when someone who is infected with kissing or having sex such as oral, vaginal or anal, it can cause infected partner. Herpes is most contagious type if the condition of a person is sick, usually characterized by itching, tingling and other sensations before anything appears on the skin.

There are several ways you can do to avoid infections such as genital herpes, namely:
1. To be honest with your partner if one has a sexually transmitted infection, this could help reduce transmission through sexual contact.
2. Do not engage in oral sex if you have the flu or known to have HSV-1 in the mouth, because this could be spreading the virus to the genitals.
3. Faithful to one partner (monogamous) and practice safe sex every time you have without any exception. Reduce friction and prevent minor injuries in the vagina or penis has the potential entry of viruses into the body.
4. Washing hands after touching the wound before touching another body part to avoid the spread of the virus.
5. Using a condom for both male or female. A study showed that the herpes virus can not pass through latex condoms, if used correctly. This practice can reasonably reduce the risk of transmission.

Even so health experts are still assessing the monogamous behavior less risky to avoid sexually transmitted diseases than polygamy. For the husband is polygamous by getting the fulfillment of many other women sex more likely lead to sexually transmitted diseases that could infect their wives.
